Gull in New Zealand announced August 1, 2007 they will make available the first biofuel to be used in everyday transportation, being the first oil company in New Zealand to produce and sell biofuel petroleum.

The fuel, Gull Force 10, is 10% ethanol and 90% petroleum. Fonterra, a large dairy producer will provide Gull with the Ethanol, produced from a by-product called whey.

General Manager of Gull says, “The launch is an example of Gull’s commitment to Islander motorists and a cleaner environment.”

The launch is ahead of mandatory sales targets set by the government which is April 2008.

Gull Force 10 will be included in the Gull/Foodtown, Countdown and Woolworth’s grocery fuel discount programs. Gull Force 10 causes lower emissions, is cleaner burning and gives motorists more power and a higher performance while cleaning the car’s fuel system.

Prime Minister Helen Clark officially launched Gull Force 10 August 1. It has been introduced to three New Zealand sites, Greville Road Albany, New North Road Kingsland and Rosscommon Road Wiri. It will extend to most of its 30 sites over time.
